Home Care in Olney, Oxford Circle, and Logan
10/24/2026
Olney, Oxford Circle, and Logan — the triangle of neighborhoods stretching along the Broad Street corridor in upper North Philadelphia — are among the city’s most diverse communities. Korean, Vietnamese, Cambodian, West African, Caribbean, and Hispanic families share these neighborhoods, many of them providing daily care for aging parents in cultures where family care is the only acceptable option.
What We See in These Neighborhoods
In our experience, the diversity of Olney and Oxford Circle creates both an opportunity and a challenge for home care. The opportunity: Participant-Directed Services
is a perfect cultural fit for communities where family caregiving is deeply embedded. The challenge: language access during assessments and care planning is critical and doesn’t always work smoothly. Families should request interpreters through PCA or the MCO and insist if the first attempt isn’t adequate.
Olney’s significant Korean American community deserves specific mention — families here may benefit from connecting with Korean-language resources and culturally aware service providers. CareChoice works to match families with aides and coordinators who understand their cultural context.
Logan has high Medicaid enrollment and significant unmet home care need. In our experience, many Logan families are already providing care — the paid family caregiver pathway through CHC converts that unpaid labor into real income.
