Medicaid Home Care Agencies in Philadelphia: Who Accepts It and How to Enroll

Families searching “Medicaid home care agencies Philadelphia” already know the most important thing: Medicaid covers home care. The question is which agencies accept it, and how to connect your loved one’s Medicaid coverage with actual services in the home.

Not Every Agency Accepts Medicaid

This trips up more Philadelphia families than you’d expect. Some agencies only serve private-pay clients. Others accept Medicaid but aren’t credentialed with all three MCOs in the Southeast Zone. If the agency isn’t credentialed with your loved one’s specific MCO —AmeriHealth Caritas, Keystone First CHC, or PA Health & Wellness — they can’t provide Medicaid-funded services to your family.

How to Find a Medicaid-Accepting Agency

Check with your MCO.  Each MCO maintains a provider directory of credentialed home care agencies. Call the MCO’s member services line and ask for the directory, or search online through the MCO’s website.

Ask PCA.  Philadelphia Corporation for Aging at (215) 765-9040 can recommend agencies experienced with Medicaid home care in the city.

Ask about PDS specifically.  Being Medicaid-credentialed doesn’t mean the agency supports Participant-Directed Services. If your family wants a relative to be the paid caregiver, confirm PDS/AWC capability before committing.
